Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

More and more libraries have adopted or looking into the possibility of implementing Web scale discovery. Is more a less a dream comes through for both users and librarians. Users will find it easier to navigate; potentially it is a single point of entry or a Google -like interface. For librarians, it is the next step up that has long sought for information discovery. We are no longer needed to introduce multiple databases to our users and teaching them the different searching skills in order to succeed in their information seeking session. In the market, there are now a number of vendors offering such service. Libraries are investing thousands and thousands of dollars and designated librarians are investing time to maximize the extensive array of features and functionality associated with these services. In this session, the aims are to start the conversation around the effectiveness and the overall “cost” of it. You are invited to this session if you library has already implemented Web scale discovery or at the level of exploring this service.
