Dublin Core Basics Workshop

The Dublin Core metadata standard is a simple, flexible and extensible schema for describing resources. This workshop will explain key concepts of the schema, focusing on the 15 core elements, the use of refinements and the use of controlled vocabularies. The workshop will include hands-on exercises to create Dublin Core records using simple tools, will introduce tools to convert records to Dublin Core and will review metadata best practices in the context of specific digital asset management platforms commonly used in theological libraries.

Knowledge Base and License Manager Librarian, PALNI
Lisa Gonzalez was formerly the Electronic Resources Librarian at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Currently she is the Knowledge Base and License Manager Librarian for PALNI (Private Academic Library Network of Indiana). She has worked in academic libraries in Illinois and California. Her research interests include discovery services, metadata, scholarly communication, open access, and the digital humanities.
