Ithaka S+R, a not-for-profit service that helps the academic community navigate economic and technological change, in partnership with the American Theological Library Association (ATLA), the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and 18 libraries in the U.S., is examining the research activities of religious studies and theology scholars. During spring semester 2016, the participating libraries and ATLA assembled research teams and conducted semi-structured interviews with faculty and visually documented faculty information practices through photography. The participating libraries will author local reports and Ithaka S+R will create a publically available final report based on aggregate analysis of the data collected from the participating institutions. This presentation by Ithaka S+R shares background information about the project’s formation, explores the project’s methodological approach and provides an update on the project’s progress to date.
