Theological Librarianship in the Age of Digital Humanities

The “digital” has claimed much attention in recent discussions about librarianship, and a cursory glance at the library landscape (job titles/ responsibilities, support from professional associations, social media traffic) reveals as much. But when wedded to “humanities,” “digital” takes on a valence that for some librarians seems outside their professional territory. This talk attempts to place digital humanities and theological librarianship in conversation, and in so doing, explore the possibilities each can provide for the other dialectically. In particular, the talk will touch on critical reflection about praxis, the necessity of collaboration, current and potential digital projects, as well as expanding our understanding of collection development.
