Central Philippine University offers the degree of Master in Library and Information Science with specialization in Theological Librarianship. This is a graduate degree program designed to provide a continuing education to current librarians of theological schools in Asia. These librarians possess a degree in theology or its eqivalent or have taken some considerable number of credits in theoloy. The purpose of the degree program is to prepare students for professional leadership in the management and operation of theological libraries. The goal of this program is to provide students with the advanced knowledge and skills in organizing, retrieving, consolidating and disseminating all types of relevant information in theological libraries. The students are expected to demonstrate a certain level of competency in terms of skills and comprehension of the purpose of the program that reflect the mission and objectives of the institution. The learning outcomes for this program are embedded in the curriculum of the school. The curriculum shall demonstrate a balanced distribution of courses that cover the theological area, organization, collection management of libraries and information centers, information technology, resources and services. It shall emphasize the importance of the development of skills and competencies both in theory and in the practice of the discipline. The duration of the program requires a minimum of two-years of full-time academic work. Currently, we have 12 students coming from all over Southeast Asian countries who will be finishing the degree. We have two students from the Philippines, 5 from Myanmar, 2 from Indonesia, 1 each from Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand respectively.
